Kenmore Garbage Disposer 6011 1/2 HP |
Problem: When you turn on the Kenmore 6011 1/2 HP garbage disposer, you hear the motor hum (and after a while the GD shuts off).
Solution:
- If you still hear the motor hum, turn the disposer off right away.
- Look under under the sink and locate the bottom part of the garbage disposer.
- Most garbage disposer comes with a wrench or hex key to help with unjamming.
- Insert the wrench into a port on the bottom, center of the disposer.
- Turn the wrench clock-wise and then counter-clockwise to wiggle the masher plate inside the disposer. This may dislodge the object that is causing the jam.
- Now remove the wrench, connect power to the GD and turn it on.
- If the GD doesn't run, you may have to reset the overload button. Turn the power off again. At the bottom of Kenmore GD, there's a small red button, press it in (assuming overload has caused the button to pop-out).
